Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Perch Muffin/Cornbread Pan Review

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Perch Muffin/Cornbread Pan

I've got the non pre-seasoned pans and I seasoned them according to the instructions. The key I've found it to preheat the oven and put the empty pans in at the same time. When the oven is at the right temperature, pull the pans out, and dribble a little oil (I use light olive) into each fish, take a paper towel and rub the inside completely then spoon/pour in the batter. Then they pop out perfectly every time.
The design is cute, but as with any sort of bread thing, the pattern shows through but not perfectly. Still fun to use. Two pans will handle a regular batch of muffin batter from my Joy of Cooking. (I like buttermilk c/ bananas walnuts, or blueberry, or craisn's or apples as well as the cornbread recipe that lodge sends with the pans.

Southern chefs will tell you that nothing bakes cornbread, muffins, or hushpuppies like a good cast-iron pan, and this Lodge Logic perch pan is among the best. The vessel features a series of five fish-shaped impressions, each measuring 4-1/4 inches long and 2-1/2 inches wide. The piscine shapes are clever and precise, complete with fins, scales, and other perch-specific details. Meanwhile, the batter cooks beautifully thanks to the cast-iron material, which heats slowly but evenly and holds its heat far longer than stainless and aluminum rivals. The resulting muffins and cornbread cakes are cooked to the peak of perfection, with slightly crisp exteriors and moist, flavorful insides. It's the perfect way to add a watery touch to your next meal, particularly if your family is filled with fishermen.
Unlike traditional cast-iron cookware, Lodge Logic pans come preseasoned through a proprietary "electrostatic" vegetable oil spray system. The preseasoning process readies the bakeware for cooking right out of the box, making it far more convenient than old-style cast-iron pans that required oil and oven seasoning before use. The timesaving process also generates a nonstick finish that helps preserve the bakeware for generations while crafting an attractive heirloom appearance. Lodge recommends hand washing the pan with a stiff brush and hot water for best results. The pan measures 15-1/4 by 1 by 5-5/8 inches (W x H x D) and carries a lifetime warranty.

Silicups Regency Silicone Baking Cups Set of 6 Review

Silicups Regency Silicone Baking Cups Set of 6

I actually had purchaced silicone muffin pans and did not like them. I saw a program on TV about Chefs preparing food for a party and muffins were on the menu. The chef commented that the muffins just fell from the silicone cups and they did as I watched. Then at Christmas last year, I was at my daughter's and she and her sister-in-law were making Yorkshire Pudding. She had enough paper muffin cups for one pan of the pudding, but had to use the silicone cups for the second batch. Amazingly, the puddings in the paper cups did not rise, but the ones in the silicone cups were big and beautiful. Well, I was sold and I love them. Love making muffins in the evening and baking them in the morning (yes that works - read that in "Cook's Illustrated").

Norpro 12 Cup Standard Muffin Tin Review

Norpro 12 Cup Standard Muffin Tin

I called the company (unfortunately after I had already purchased this item), and the 12 cup muffin pan is made of tin not stainless steel. Drat. If you are looking for a healthier alternative to nonstick (and tin), I suggest a stoneware muffin pan. Pampered Chef is the only company that I know of who makes one. Check their website for a more fair price than the one listed on this website. ;)

Wilton Easy Flex Silicone Mini Loaf Pan Review

Wilton Easy Flex Silicone Mini Loaf Pan

I happily ordered 2 of these .... holidays coming and I wanted to get a jump start.
One of the pans scorched around the top edges after it's first time in the oven.
The second one scorched inside, on the bottom and sides after 2-3 uses.
I was very careful with using these pans. I looked up on the net about how to use these = no greasing needed before using and do not use above 350 degrees so that's what I did.
I was so very careful using the pans.
The scorching is very disappointing. I cannot believe this is suppose to happen.
Otherwise, I love these pans as I love to make many many dessert breads for Christmas "thinking of you" gifts.
The breads release from the pan so nicely and both fit in the oven at the same time.
It would be great if this problem could be fixed.

I bought this to make hemispherical domes on the top of mini cupcakes (specifically little preggo bellies for a baby shower). They are the perfect size for it. As with all silicone bakeware, you need to have it on a cookie sheet or something to keep it straight and flat. It works great, releases easily.

1 Cup Muffin, set of 6 Review

1 Cup Muffin, set of 6
Average Reviews:

I use these to cook my breakfast each morning. I put a 2 chicken sausage ball each in a cup and microwave for 45 seconds. I then put an egg in two cups, spinach in one. Run the Microwave for 45 seconds. release the eggs from the sides and remove the spinach. Cook the eggs for 25 more seconds. Very fast and delicious. No added fat.
Before these silicon cups I had tried Pyrex dishes with covers. Then had to scrub the eggs out.
I tried egg specific microwave dishes. Eggs stick to them or you had to add oil.
These silicon cups are very flexible/squeezable but are rigid enough to stand alone. They clean very easily. While the eggs sometimes stick they are very easy to wipe clean.
My daughter cooked muffins in the oven with them and the muffins popped rite out.
So far, I have seen no down side in these.

Freshware 12-Cavity Silicone Brioche Briochette Pan Review

Freshware 12-Cavity Silicone Brioche Briochette Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What a pleasure to cook with! Brioche a tete is one of those things that you have to start making well before you eat it. Making the dough and then letting it rise, cool, and rise again takes some time, and I didn't want to do all that work and then have the bread not turn out. I was skeptical about this silicone brioche pan; surely nothing could match the time-honored metal pans when it came to making this classic French treat. But the brioche a tete turned out beautifully . . . rich, buttery, eggy, perfectly cooked, with the iconic fluted sides and "little head" looking just like a cookbook illustration. There were no removal problems; they practically jumped out of the pan. Clean-up was a snap. The cavities are small. Half my usual recipe made a dozen brioche. I'm thinking about buying one or two of the larger six-cavity pans. My baker friends told me not to oil or grease silicone, but the directions that came with this pan said to butter each well the first time it was used. I did that, and there were no problems. Having to place the pan on a baking sheet while baking did not alter the baking time or the end result. This was my first attempt at baking with silicone, and I wasn't disappointed. Novices and experienced bakers alike will be happy with this pan. Let them eat brioche!

Cuisinart Easy Grip Bakeware 12-Cup Muffin Pan Review

Cuisinart Easy Grip Bakeware 12-Cup Muffin Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this muffin/cupcake pan for about six months, and really love it. It is VERY solid and sturdy, no wobbling batter for me! The nonstick attribute works very well, and it cleans up quickly and easily. I really like the non-slip grip handles as well. Gives me something to hold onto when removing the pan from the oven, instead of mashing some unfortunate cupcake with the big hot mitt. Double check the measurement of your oven, since the wonderful grip handles do make the pan longer than most. If your oven is petite, it may not fit. I highly recommend this pan. I stocked up on some other Cuisinart bakeware at the same time, since it had/has the 4-for-3 promotion on it. Happy baking! www.EatRealGood.com

This is by far my favorite Pampered Chef product. The muffins bake evenly and never burn. The only drawback may be that it is heavy, so don't buy it for grandma. Once seasoned, muffins come out with no problem, although I do spray with Pam each time.

I bought this pan for my holiday baking. While the cups were a bit smaller than I expected, once I got the feel for how much cake batter to put in them, I was thrilled. My cakes came out of them easily, and everyone had their own favorite shape; it's a little hard to tell from the pictures, but the shapes are a wreath, a star, a poinsettia, and a ring of trees.

American Originals Mini Cupcake Maker Review

American Originals Mini Cupcake Maker

I purchased the American Originals Mini Cupcake Make for my husband. He loves chocolate and I thought they would be a neater way for him to have his chocolate. It has proven to be correct. The cupcakes are fun to make, although you do have to rebatter every ten minutes or so. I believe it is eight minutes. Then I figured out after frosting a lot of tiny cupcakes that a frosting tip and a bag would be neater and faster. It is. For Father's Day I made the Red Velvet cake with white frosting and the frosting bag and then sprinkles and they were just darling. It makes about 48 cupcakes out of a box mix.

This is the first time I've ever used a product like this. After years of paper cupcake liners tearing the sides off the cupcakes or adhereing to blueberries in the muffins, I wanted a better result. I used these and ended up with PERFECTLY cooked muffins, PERFECT shapes (no tears) and it was all PERFECTLY easy (I removed the liners when cakes were hot as well as after muffins had cooled completely - both worked equally PERFECT.) I LOVE THESE. Since then, I've purchased cookie sheet liners, etc. These are the best!

Cuisinart Chef's Classic 6-Cup Nonstick Jumbo Muffin Pan Review

Cuisinart Chef's Classic 6-Cup Nonstick Jumbo Muffin Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been very disappointed lately with the non-stick coating on muffin pans. I have tried many over the last year (including Kitchen-aid, Bakers Secret, Wilton and others), and the muffins start sticking badly after about 15 uses. I am very careful in how I care for them, hand wash, no metal utensils, etc. But with the other pans I have tried the initial coating which is shiny seems to disappear quickly and then the muffins start sticking. I make muffins about four times a week and I have been using this pan for eight weeks and it is still working well. The product description says that this pan is coated inside and out with xylan. But it seems to me that the top surface of the pan has a different coating than the bottom. The top is silver and the bottom is gray. The bottom has developed scratches in it already, but I really don't care as long as the top (and inside the cups) stays intact, which it has. The only thing I do to care for it is to hand wash it fairly soon after it has cooled. And so far, the non-stick properties are performing well. By the way, this pan makes the large "Texas" size muffins.
Here is an update: after five months the silver coating is peeling. I am very disappointed. I use it about three times a week and I am very careful in cleaning and handling. It was good while it lasted, but I don't consider 5 months long enough. Shouldn't it last at least a year?!
